Abstract:
The management of water resources affects communities in many ways, and is addressed with innovation and creativity throughout the world. The U.S. Green Building Council provides a framework that includes ‘credits’ awarded for water and energy efficiency. The LEED rating system is a global program, measuring resiliency and sustainability. Blossom Consulting and Engineering Inc. (BCE) is responsible for Stormwater and Water Efficiency credit review for projects submitted worldwide, and has performed review of hundreds of credit submittals for institutional, private and Government sponsored projects. Mr. Blossom provides technical review of these credits, involving a range of stormwater management techniques and rainwater harvesting practices specifically customized for the climatic, demographic and topographic characteristics of the area in which the project is located. While each project is unique, each must meet a common “intention” by demonstrating compliance with pre-defined, quantifiable standards. This presentation will focus on comparison of interesting case studies from around the world, highlighting innovative and exciting ways accomplish water resources management.
